All donations will be given to a child of an Extended Opportunity Program (EOPS) student. Please leave a new unwrapped toy in the donation box located at the Circulation Desk on the second floor of the Library.

Labels for EducationSM
For more than 30 years, Labels for Education has been awarding free educational equipment to schools in exchange for proofs of purchase from the Campbell family of brands. It’s a fun, easy program where students, families and members of the community work together for a common goal. To find the list of eligible products, visit: http://www.labelsforeducation.com

The collection box is at the Circulation Desk on the second floor of the Library.

For more information on any of these programs, call 760-744-1150, Ext. 2614 or 2612.Linda Morrow, Facultyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14729407725709909419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9140483028910170360.post-71236971627568484352009-08-23T21:45:00.000-07:002009-08-23T21:57:58.625-07:00A Note About TextbooksThe President’s Associates have granted funding to provide a limited amount of book loans to students who are financially unable to purchase a required textbook for their class. Applications are available only at ST-17(near the Student Services Building). Students will need to fill out the application completely and have either their professor OR counselor sign it and turn it back in to the office. At this time, due to overwhelming demand, only one textbook per student will be loaned out this semester.

Additionally, the Associates have provided funding to the Library to purchase many of the core textbooks for students to use at the Library to complete their homework. The books must be used at the Library and cannot be taken home. Currently there are about 200 textbooks available at the library.

Students who take classes at the Escondido Center can check with library there. They have purchased textbooks with funding from the President's Associates again this year.

Textbooks are listed in the online catalog. Click here to view the catalog. If you do not see yours, please drop by or call us (760-744-1150, ext. 2612) to find out if your textbook is available.Linda Morrow, Facultyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14729407725709909419noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9140483028910170360.post-56535219897751405362009-08-23T21:40:00.000-07:002009-08-23T21:44:58.356-07:00Welcome Back!We are excited to have everyone back. The first two weeks of the spring semester have been spent adding these textbooks to those that the instructors have given to be placed in the Library.

Students may use the textbooks while they study in the Library. It’s your right to know!In support of the College’s general education curriculum, the library is now offering instructional sessions that focus on the Campus Explorations theme, the Environment and Sustainable Living: Global Crises and Solutions. Instructors, student groups and others are encouraged to come to the library for a discussion on the conflicting research and news reports regarding the environment and sustainable living. For example, hybrid cars are the rave, but some sources say the cost of the production is not worth the benefit of driving one. Discussion on conflicting sources of information will be followed by instruction on how to find and evaluate information about the environment and sustainable living. If we believe it’s our responsibility to save the earth, it’s also our right and responsibility to be informed about how to save it.

To schedule a session, please complete the library instruction request form or contact Katy French at kfrench@palomar.edu or ext. 3640.
